Valentino spring-summer 2016 show
Between ancient Rome, the Aztec Empire and secular Africa, the wardrobe of Maria Grazia Chiuri and Pierpaolo Piccioli for Valentino is an eternal voyage.
This dreamy brand of fashion incorporates some of humankind’s greatest myths. The legendary poetry of the African continent is at the heart of this Spring-Summer 2016 collection: the duo has combined traditional dress with Valentino’s references to Antiquity. Fringes are thus mixed with flounces, muslin and lace contrasted with stiff canvas and leather, plunging collars are counterbalanced with Renaissance knots. In terms of color, the designers reject artifice in favor of nuances taken directly from nature. Terracotta, deep green, azur blue, white.… The four elements are at the center of a deeply humanist summer symphony.
