The June-July issue of Numéro features two covers realized in partnership with international artists
For its special ART edition, Numéro called on the talents of two internationally recognized artists, Alex Israel and Richard Phillips, to work with photographers David Mushegain and Greg Kadel.
Daphne Groeneveld’s beauty becomes both voluptuous and Pop when captured by photographer Greg Kadel, who was inspired by Richard Phillips’s work for this bold series of pictures.
Meanwhile American model Jessica Miller, photographed by David Mushegain, was more than happy to follow Alex Israel’s direction. In the rocky Californian desert, she poses within one of the artist’s works, an iconic self-portrait. Israel’s exhibition Summer opens at Paris’s Galerie Almine Rech on Saturday 13 June.
“No great artist ever sees things as they really are. If he did, he would cease to be an artist,” wrote Oscar Wilde. It’s because they transcend reality that artists can sublimate everything they touch.
For the second time in its history, Numéro has asked six of the most influential contemporary artists to share their vision with six fashion photographers, and the resulting photo shoots are featured in this special ART edition.
From Gilbert & George to Alex Israel, via Rachel Feinstein, Camille Henrot, Bertrand Lavier or Richard Phillips, they all convey their uncompromising vision through these series. The results of these exceptional partnerships are as much a work of art as they are fashion photography.
