Fashion sees red (and black)
This summer's accessories marry elegance and sex appeal in this week's selection by Rebecca Bleynie.
A classic that will never go out of fashion, the combination of red and black has a symbolic power and graphic strength that have always appealed. Louis Vuitton has chosen black to pick out the edges of its famous trunk, but in this version the traditional form is parodied: mini-sized, in soft leather, it becomes a pure fashion accessory. With its square form and red handles set against black, Balenciaga's "Nude" bag is like an abstract painting, as is its exact negative, the black square on a red background of Fendi's Mini-Baguette, the latest iteration of the Italian house's famous it-bag. In [snakeskin] [deerskin], Sergio Rossi's sandals combine a slender silhouette with an exotic texture.
