Pocked with holes, slashed, worn-out, torn out… Balenciaga’ new “Paris Sneakers” are already causing quite a stir on Instagram since their launching on Monday, May 9th. Users are mocking the deliberate worn-out look of the footwear. The Paris sneakers stand as a more sober and casual option than the famous Triple S or the new Phantom ones, as their design reinvests the style of the shoes used for athletics in the mid-20th century. Made of black, white, or red worn-out cotton fabric with a white rubber sole and toe edge, Balenciaga’s Paris sneakers is available in three designs – lace-ups, high tops, and mules.
Paris sneakers had actually been soiled and worn-out to the extreme on purpose for the “still life” photoshoot of the campaign. The fashion house stated in a press release that the “Paris sneakers are meant to be worn for a lifetime”. A limited edition of a hundred pairs of those fully destroyed sneakers is available in black or white on the brand’s website until they are completely sold out.
