Critically acclaimed in 2011 for his film A Separation, which won the Golden Bear in Berlin, the Golden Globe, César and Oscar for best foreign film, Iranian film maker Asghar Farhadi has lined up a five-star cast for his latest movie Everybody Knows. Filmed entirely in Spain (and in Spanish), the film follows Laura, a mother who travels with her family from Buenos Aires to her native village in Spain for her sister's wedding. But an unexpected turn of events upsets the lives of the characters while brutally digging up the past. The family, its secrets, its links, its traditions and the moral choices it makes are at the heart of the intrigue - all themes often addressed by the director.
To be premiered on May 8th at the Grand Théâtre Lumière du Palais des festivals, Everybody Knows will be released in French cinemas the day after. The Cruz-Bardem duo also star in Loving Pablo, by Fernando León de Aranoa, already in cinemas.
