Event: the NikeLab x Olivier Rousteing party with Chris Brown and Lily Allen

On Wednesday night NikeLab and Olivier Rousteing feted the launch of their collaboration. All in black and gold, the designer’s creations celebrate the union between sportswear and Parisian luxury chic.

Ever since the empire was founded in 1971, Nike has been the number one sporting goods company in the world with its clothes and shoes, but also a whole territory of images and fantasy extrapolating the cult of the body and beauty of movement, and where style and fashion have found their rightful place under the auspices of the NikeLab line. After Riccardo Tisci, a true fan of Nike and in particular its legendary Air Force 1, now it’s the turn of Olivier Rousteing to collaborate with the swoosh logoed brand . With his flawless skin and high cheekboned beauty, best friend of the Kardashians and Rihanna, the artistic director at Balmain is also the go-to designer for sports stars, NBA basketball players and multi-millionaire footballers, all of whom squeeze into the front row of his runway shows. There’s a gold lettered legitimacy in the collaboration between Nike Lab x Olivier Rousteing [initials OR].

This collaboration was also a chance for Olivier Rousteing to show some love to the footballers who can’t get enough of him. To celebrate the Euro 2016 which starts in Paris on June 10th, the designer is proposing a complete football kits for men and women in black and gold. In an audacious fusion of a traditional runway show, a dance number and video animation on the walls of a vast dome installed especially for the occasion, the presentation of the collection in Paris saw dancers/footballers leaping in the air to kick the image of a golden ball. A football fan himself, a sparkly-eyed Olivier Rousteing, couldn’t stop grinning as he took a modest bow at the end. Without attempting any acrobatics…
