Hedi Slimane's portrait videos for “Saint Laurent at the Palladium”
Discover Hedi Slimane’s explosive videos announcing the house of Saint Laurent’s next runway show at the Palladium in Los Angeles on February 10th. From Ariel Pink to Lili Sumner, the designer’s muses are out in force.
Hedi Slimane continues to shake up fashion conventions with his announcement that he’ll be showing his men’s and women’s (the first part) collections on February 10th in Los Angeles. His declaration of love for the west coast of the United States continues.
To announce this fashion event “Saint Laurent at the Palladium”, Hedi Slimane introduces his latest medium, the “portrait videos” with all the energy of rock music and made following the principle of chronophotography and high speed editing. These short videos retain the black and white aesthetic favoured by the designer while staging, among others, the actress Lucia Ribisi, the new Saint Laurent muse Staz Lindes, model Lili Sumner and musician Ariel Pink. And it’s at the Hollywood Palladium, a legendary theatre with its Art Deco style that since opening in 1940 has hosted shows by Frank Sinatra, the Rolling Stones, Led Zeppelin and Prince, where his next men and women’s runway shows will take place on February 10th.
Having moved to Los Angeles in 2008, the artistic director of Saint Laurent Paris hasn’t stopped supporting and paying tribute to the young music scene, most notably with his diary where he regularly shares edgy yet elegant photos of fresh local talent. He recently posted photos of the young Staz Lindes (guitarist in rock band, The Paranoyds) who he also had to walk the runway at his spring-summer 2016 collection. This year his diary is celebrating its tenth birthday.
The second part of the women’s collection will be shown in Paris on March 7th.
