Céline spring-summer 2016 show
As ever the remarkable talent and very uniqueness of Phoebe Philo’s style conceals great diversity. Céline’s minimalism leaves its typical urbanism behind and goes travelling.
This season Phoebe Philo’s minimalism leaves its typical urbanism behind and goes travelling. Hints of black lace, oriental slippers in woven leather, harem pants and Prince of Wales check: the artistic director at Céline evoked a burning Andalusia, a mythical Persia and a preppy England. But in spite of these references, there’s no forgetting the essence of the designer’s style. The contrasting shapes, cuts and dimension are as omnipresent as ever. The trapeze tops and dresses are softened by the use of sunray pleats while nipped-in waists are maximised by balloon sleeves… As ever the remarkable talent of Phoebe Philo conceals great diversity.
