Katy Perry is back on the top pop form again after her last album “Prism” released in 2014.

In her new music video “Chained To The Rhythm” the “Teenage Dream” singer takes us to Oblivia, an amusement park unlike any other. A human-size hamster wheel, a heart-shaped roller-coaster and flying capsules are just some of the fantastical rides on offer in this sanitised society. Here the American Dream is shaken up with themes of immigration and nuclear power presented as metaphors. The colourful trip with its surreal and pastel-toned décor both amuses and disturbs. As a duet with Skip Marley, Bob Marley’s grandson, the pop icon seizes this opportunity to convey her messages with all the eccentricity that characterises her.

This electrifying nugget was directed by Matthew Cullen, the man behind videos including “Chasing Pavements” by Adèle, “Boom Boom Pow” by Black Eyed Peas as well as Katy Perry’s “California Gurls” and “Dark Horses”.
